Hotel Living...

I'll give you one guess where we stayed in Ashland... Icky little
place! Beds sucked, road noise all night, no in-room coffee, pool was
cold, and I could keep going... But, other members of the family were
staying there, so we stayed too. So, if you are looking for a hotel
room while in Ashland, WI., keep looking! I hear the Best Western is
kinda nice:-)

Lake Superior

Here's a picture of the kids taken at a little park along US 2 in
Ashland. There is a lighthouse between them, WAY the hell out there:-)
Lake Superior still has lots of ice. This part of the lake is
actually a protected bay. You can see the land on the other side there,
that is going up towards Washburn and the Apostle Islands. Pretty cool
area. Only 650 feet above seas level, according to the GPS.

The seagull was looking for a handout. We didn't have any food
so I offered him .34 minutes of fame by posting his picture
on the Internet in exchange for an agreement that kept
bird shit off of my car windows. Nasty birds.

Road Trip!

Here is the Magellan Platinum GPS affixed to the Intrepid windscreen on
our trip to Ashland, WI last weekend. Worked really well!! Used the
MapSend DirectRoute software and plugged in the start and beginning and
it gave turn by turn directions right to the hotel. The maps include
points of interest, so the hotel was already in there. Cool:-) Select
your map region, upload to the GPS and away you go. One of the reasons
I picked the Magellan Platinum was because it utilizes SD memory, on top
of the internal memory. So, large map regions are no problem to store.

The kids and I will do some GeoCaching hunts this summer, so I started a
new GPS topic, you can see all GPS related sites by clicking on the GPS
icon to the right of a GPS post. Same with the car and beer posts. I
guess this could have also gone in car, huh? :-)
