Yummy! I've had this a number of times in the past, quadruple bonus if
you can find it on tap!!. As a matter of fact, this beer may have
started me towards my great love of all different kinds of beer! As a
teen in and around Milwaukee Wisconsin in the late 70's and early 80's,
we started appreciating the goodness of beer early on:-) Thanks to
parents having keg parties and other parents who ran the beer tent or
bingo at the local catholic church fair, we had our share of beer before
the legal age of 18. All I ever knew was Pabst, Schlitz, Red White &
Blue, Blatz, and Miller. A "fine" beer meant you were able to get your
hands on some Malt Liquor, like good old Shitz, er, I mean Schlitz Malt
Liquor!
My Dad got me some Guinness on my 18th birthday and I was hooked on that
stuff for life. Then, I was engaged to a girl for a while, her Dad
turned me onto this beer (with and without the yeast). We would go out
to eat at the Wurst Haus on Appleton Avenue in Milwaukee and sample all
the different beers. He tried educating me, but I was too caught up in
the tastes. If memory serves, and it has been a few years, they had
probably a dozen tappers flowing some of the best German beer you could
get. It was crazy, especially to a 20 something year old kid who loved
beer!
The local boozer had two bottles of this stuff so I grabbed them up.
