Curing Rock
Thanks to my Mom and her husband, Russ, I have about 52 pounds of rock
to add to my fish tank!! That'll bring me up to about 80 pounds,
total. That will be really cool! Since their rock was "dead", it needs
to be brought back to life, or cured. I have decided to cure my rock in
this old cooler with about 10-11 gallons of saltwater. You can see a
little powerhead on the right, that is to keep the water circulating
around. Next week I will dump out a bunch of the water and dump in
another 7 gallons of saltwater. I will probably repeat that a couple of
times until the ammonia levels come way down. All the dead matter on
the rock now would kill my fish if i put some into the tank now.
Once the rock has cured, I will introduce a piece or two at a time,
slowly building up the back wall of the tank.
Thanks Mom and Russ!!
